Tubbs Hill Hiking Trail

.

Tubbs Hill is a 2.4-mile loop hiking trail located next to the Coeur d’Alene Resort. Hike along beautiful lake CDA and is enjoyed by all skill levels. Bring your friends, kids, and dogs, (leash required).  You can hike the marked trails from the McEuen Park entrance and take the back loop of the front loop.

.

The back loop starts out very hilly and gets the heart pumping quickly.  Then tapers off on the front side for an enjoyable and scenic finish.  There are 27 signposts to complete the loop.  If you want the most scenic views then start at signpost #1 and when you get to #13 you are at the halfway point.  Then turn around and go back the way you started.

.

Bring your camera for some great photos of your kids, the lake, and the mountains surrounding the Lake City!  Tubbs Hill is comprised of 120 acres of publicly owned land for all to enjoy, no fee required!

HISTORY Of Tubbs Hill.

.

In 1884, Tubbs Hill was purchased by Tony Tubbs.  In 1936, the CDA City Council purchased part of Tubbs Hill and McEuen Field for a municipal power plant.  In 1973, the Idaho Water Company planned to double the water rates so the CDA voters approved a bond to buy the Water Company.  Then, the city council and matching federal funds turned the property into public ownership in 1974.

.

Now the Tubbs Hill Foundation is restoring the native habitat on Tubbs.   Adding ponderosa pine, western white pine ( Idaho’s state tree), western larch and a variety of native shrubs for all to enjoy. Visitors and locals alike enjoy hiking, picnicking and the small beaches on Tubbs Hill.
