Coeur d'Alene Idaho

.

Coeur d’Alene Idaho is not just a place to live or visit, but a place to fall in LOVE with. Abbreviated as CDA, makes the spelling easier to remember.  “The beautiful city on the lake.”  Lake Coeur d’Alene is its name located in the panhandle of North Idaho.

.

First I will explain what it’s like to live here,

and then why you want to visit Coeur d’Alene Idaho.

.

A rural city with a population of about 52,000 people.  Filled with residents who love the small-town life but appreciate the amenities of modern-day luxuries.  Because living the rural life with an International airport just a 45-minute traffic-free drive away makes life easier.

.

CDA has a Mall, Costco, Walmart, State of the Art Hospital, city water, modern police and fire stations.  We have Teslas, lots of 4-wheel drive pickup trucks, horses, ATV’s, modern roads and highways.

.

We are full of happy people because they moved away from big city life.  And 2 great high schools with 2 popular colleges.  High-speed internet and Wi-Fi are available to 90% of the city.

And all the good guys have Guns and we have a low violent crime rate.

Because we love our guns and our freedom.

.

.

Whew, you still with me?

Let’s take a breath and continue the adventure.

.

.

I know I sound overly excited about Coeur d’Alene Idaho, but I am.  Mostly because of where I came from.  Mainly because I lived in Southern California for 40 years and I ran a business in Los Angeles.  Then I got married and had 3 children.  This changed everything and woke me up!

.

I realized how bad California was becoming and

I did not want my kids to grow up in the mess.

.

So my wife and I made the decision to move.  We made a list of cities that might be a good fit for us.  I went online and joined local CDA blogs and read all the information we could find.  Then we took vacations to investigate the cities on our list so we could see for ourselves first hand.

.

After 2 trips to Coeur d’Alene, we pulled the trigger.  We rented a house in CDA for 1 year and rented out our California home for the same term.  Leaving the door open if we decided to move back and we have been here almost 12 years now.  We don’t miss California one bit and we are happy with the lifestyle choice we made.

.

Needless to say, we LOVE Coeur d’Alene Idaho!

Here are more stories from people who moved to CDA.

.

When Sherry Rose retired last summer from her job in the Bay Area, she and her husband moved to a wooded area. They had visited CDA only a few months before on a vacation and quickly fell in love with it. Idaho reminded her of the California she knew in the 1970s. “It’s kind of like a better time that’s gone by,” Sherry said.

.

It’s a much slower pace because people are more down to earth here.”  Sherry and her Husband are 62.  The house they bought is on a quiet cul-de-sac and is twice as big and half as expensive as the one she sold in California.

.

Sherry said; “I did not feel safe because of the crime in San Francisco.”  Sherry instantly felt at home in this small town. She said there are a lot of like-minded Christians. And as she’s gotten older, to her surprise, she’s become more conservative.

.

.

We love Coeur d'Alene

.

Sherry was also struck by just how many ex-Californians live here. They are everywhere: the business owners, the retirees at the golf resorts and her neighbors.

.

I immediately tell people in Coeur d’Alene I am not one of those people

who want to change CDA, I love it the way it is, that’s why we’re here.”

.

.

Then there is C.J. Buck, who moved his entire business, Buck Knives, from Southern California to Idaho. Buck decided to move his manufacturing business primarily because workers’ comp taxes were getting too high.  In California, Buck said; businesses are almost treated as a necessary evil.

.

The beauty of Idaho is, you just never lose connection; because it’s the people who need the jobs who are the ones voting on the issues.

.

Buck loves Idaho & CDA because he finds awesome, hard-working employees!

.

.

Mark is a single father raising 2 teenage boys.  He moved to Coeur d’Alene Idaho from Los Angeles County because his boys started getting in trouble with the police.  “When my oldest son went to jail for the second time, I just picked up and moved.”  He rented a condo near downtown and put his sons in Coeur d’Alene High School.

.

Mark got a job in 2 months.  Making less money than he did in CA.

but the cost of living is half of what it was in Los Angeles.

.

The first thing I did was enroll my kids in a hunters safety class, bought them both hunting rifles, a two-seater ATV and gave them a map of the best places to hunt.”  Mark’s oldest son took to hunting like a pro and when he learned that he cannot hunt if he has a felony record.  He has not been in trouble with the law since!

.

Mark said; “On the weekends I don’t even see my boys

because they are out hunting or fishing.”

.

.

Coeur d’Alene high school has been a wonderful experience for my boys.  They have many great friends and they all hang out together.  And my sons are not getting into trouble.

.

.

Mark says; “I recently bought a home for $325,000.00

with some land and I call it my castle.

I can’t believe what I was able to buy for the money.”

.

.

Coeur d’Alene feels like one of nature’s most glorious theme parks.  With small-town charm and the added excitement of the wild!

.

**NOTE: Some famous people that have homes in Coeur d’Alene.   John Elway,  Wayne Gretzky,  Matthew McConaughey, Lance Armstrong, and George Clooney. But residents in CDA don’t care about famous people.
