Baby Boomers are moving to Coeur d’Alene and want to retire here and live
an active life in a beautiful setting.
.
.
The Americans that are called Baby-Boomers are retiring at the highest rate America has ever seen. These Baby-Boomers are in charge of their future. They have retired with money in the bank and their home is paid for. They can now make the choice of where they want to spend the rest of their lives because they have the money to invest in their retirement future.
.
IDAHO is the fastest-growing population of Baby Boomers in America.
.
.
These baby boomers are discovering CDA and are seeing how our great city is
their best choice of where they want to live for their last stand.
.
And why not. Their dollar goes further, they live in a beautiful and safe community. In an active community, letting them do all the activities they wanted to do when they were younger.
.
Cost of living is lower than other comparable beautiful cities
with the same features and benefits as CDA.

Coeur d’Alene, by California and Seattle standards, is the 50% State. This means that overall the cost of living is 50% less than where we lived all our lives. When you take energy & water fees, insurance, home costs, taxes, and gas prices this makes sense.
.
So after you sell your home in your city, take your kids out of school, and relocate your family to Coeur d’Alene you can expect to spend 50% less money than you were used to spending.
.
And if you are moving here for retirement you can expect your savings to last 50% longer than if you stayed in your hometown.

Great place to raise kids.
A parent community of kids first.
.
.
When I first moved my family here from Southern California I noticed how much this community-appreciated family first. I was intrigued by how many Moms, did not have to work a full-time job to help support their family. Fathers can work a full-time job and afford a nice home in a good neighborhood. And Mom can be a full-time Mom raising the family the way America was designed to work.
.
America, pay attention to this way of life. Moms that can say their job is a full-time Mom is what makes Coeur d’Alene great.
.
Living the Country Life and still having a no traffic, 40-minute
drive to Spokane ‘INTERNATIONAL’ Airport.
.
.
When my family was deciding how we could live in a small American town in Idaho, we were concerned. A big concern was how do we get out of town when we need to visit family, for business or vacations.
.
I have had to fly to Texas, Seattle, California, and Arizona for business while living in CDA. Having the International airport in Spokane Washington, an easy 40-minute drive from Coeur d’Alene made our moving decision so much easier. And knew we were moving to Coeur d’Alene.

.
Every great city has a popular pass time. Ours is our beautiful Coeur d’Alene Lake.
.
We have many wonderful restaurants on our lake. We have some of the most beautiful waterfront homes on our lake. The Coeur d’Alene Resort Hotel is right on the lake. We can swim, fish, wakeboard, go boating, site seeing, scuba diving, parasailing, hiking on the lake shores, and have a great day on one of our beaches.
.
Lake Coeur d’Alene is huge and the whole town is built around our lake.
.
.
Happy & Polite People.
.
My first vacation in Coeur d’Alene in 2007 I noticed how friendly the people were. Not the hurry up rudeness I experience in the other cities I have visited. Kids would hold the door open at the mall or a restaurant, and actually, wait while you entered the building.
.
In the grocery store, people say “Hello” for no reason other than to be nice. After living here for 8 years nothing has changed, people are nice and I like it.

.When I told a friend in California I was moving my family to CDA he told me this town was a greasy spoon.
Telling me I would probably gain 30 pounds once I moved here.
.
Boy, was he wrong! Every city has its places to eat that can make you Fat. But my family has been blessed to find the hidden gems where we could order “fresh-made” meals in a loving environment and not break the bank paying for the meal.
.
Yes, we do love to eat at tourist restaurants. Paying premium prices, but we always know the best places to eat now that we are living here in Coeur d’Alene. The diversity of good food restaurants makes my family’s favorite past-time going out to eat.
.
Outdoor life is better than any other
place in America we have found.

Where can you go shopping at Costco in the morning? Catch Salmon in Lake Coeur d’Alene before lunch. Drive your ATV up to Canfield Mountain after lunch. Do a long zip-line ride mid-day through the great trees of Idaho. Then go hunting for white-tail deer and Elk with a 20-minute drive before sunset? No other place I can think of.

Nice Police.
.
Living in Coeur d’Alene for 8 years now I have to say the police are NICE. Let me give you some examples I have experienced.
I had my son at soccer tryouts and Canfield Middle school was packed with hundreds of children and all the cars the parents drove to bring their kids. Along the Dalton Street side of the soccer field is a fence with signs, NO PARKING. Because the parking lot was full of cars this street was lined with 30 cars, actually parked illegally based on the no parking sign.
.
When the Police arrived, they did not start putting tickets on all of the parent’s cars watching the soccer tryouts. The Police came to the announcer and had him announce that the Police were here. And asked all the parents that were parked along Dalton Ave. to please move their cars. Giving the parents 30 minutes before they would start writing parking tickets.
.
I told my wife, “WE ARE NOT IN CALIFORNIA ANYMORE.”
.
.
On Halloween night I had 7 kids in my car driving around to the best trick or treating neighborhoods. I was pulled over by a police car for driving 36 in a 25 mph zone. The Policeman was so nice. He checked my license and insurance. Then he handed out candy to all the kids in my car. And then I was given a warning, but not a ticket. The Police officer said, slow down and have a fun & safe Halloween.
.
The Coeur d’Alene police have a Facebook page and they announce each day what streets they will be policing. They said in the CDA newspaper that they post on Facebook where they will be policing each day because they were not trying to “CATCH” people speeding. But they just wanted people to slow down and be safe so nobody gets hurt.
.
When the Police drive down the street, children and parents wave to them. We love this town.

Enjoy the four seasons.
.
.
I moved my family from sunny Southern California. Not sure what to expect when we first arrived. Our first year was 2008 which was the most snow in over 100 years. My kids felt like they were on a continuous vacation. Skiing, sledding, making snowmen, and ice caves in the backyard. When Spring arrived the plants in our yard went from dead to 6 feet tall in less than 3 weeks.
.
I finally understood Natures term called “SPRING,” because the green plants sprung to life and made our kids excited about the new season. My kids love the 4 seasons. It is like a nature clock telling us what time of the year it is based on the seasons we could touch, feel, smell and see.
.
Spring, Autumn, Summer, Winter are so pronounced it makes for a beautiful place to live. This is a special place when Mother Nature can show you what is special about the 4 seasons.

Active Christian Community with more Churches
per capita than anywhere else we can find.
.
.
When my family was looking for a town to move to when we realized California was going downhill. We had many states and cities on our TARGET list. Doing our research we logged into blogs of the local CDA churches to see which churches shared our family values.
.
After 40 years of living in Los Angeles and Orange County California. I was amazed at how many churches were available in this small town called Coeur d’Alene.
.
.Church & Family is the Heart Coeur d’Alene. Like no other city I have seen before.
.
Great Schools of all types. A school to meet everyone’s needs.

Idaho Governor Brad Little.
.
Republican Governor Brad Little’s top priority for 2019 is “EDUCATION“
.
“Ultimately, my education funding proposals are about doing the right thing
for the next generation of Idahoans.”
.
.Coeur d’Alene is putting a huge effort into educating our children. And third-party companies like GIZMO are educating children in new technologies outside the school system. With a mention of the blockbuster school Charter Academy!

No gun-free zones in Coeur d’Alene.
.
.
This can be a sensitive point for people living in the Democratic State of California. Where people believe guns are the reason that people get shot. I had this opinion until I moved my family to Coeur d Alene.
.
When I first moved here I read in the newspaper that 80% of the males in CDA carried a concealed weapon. That means the law-abiding males, (and females), were carrying a gun hidden from the public, but ready to be used to stop any criminal that wants to hurt innocent people in the city of Coeur d Alene.
.
.
I have lived in CDA for 12 years now and I have not heard of 1 car-jacking or a home take-over by criminals looking to steal your family valuables. When you live in a place where 95% of Law-abiding citizens have guns at home, and the criminals know it. You get very little crime.
